After they closed Yahoo Photos a few days ago, Yahoo announced that they will also close Yahoo Auctions. It seems that they’re cleaning house. Hopefully, now that they’re getting rid of the less successful areas of the company (not that Yahoo Photos wasn’t successful), they will make some extra efforts against Google. Yahoo Auctions will remain only in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, probably the countries where it has success. The last day for listing an item will be June 3rd, with the last day for bids on June 16th. At the end of October the site will be closed for good.
