Not a bad idea at all. The heated keyboard has 3 steps: heaf off, low heat (85 F to 90 F) and high heat (95 F to 100 F). I think anyone living in a cold region like Canada/Alaska, Northern Europe can easily see the benefit of such a keyboard. Even though I don’t live in a very cold area, I still had ocasions during the winter when I came from outside and I couldn’t feel my hands because of the cold. Not exactly a design award winner, but quite useful.
