Microsoft will launch today the Microsoft Surface, a new category of products, called surface computers. Its brilliant really and I can’t wait for this to become mainstream. Surface computers can recognize objects placed on it, like a cellphone and can connect with it directly. In the video bellow you will see some pictures simply being dragged to the cellphone, and they’re copied automatically. You can control photos, music, maps. It doesn’t recognize just cellphones though. Using Surface you transform a simple coffee table into a dynamic surface that you can use to order beer if you’re in a bar, read a newspaper or book a flight if you’re in a hotel lobby or anything else really. The possibilities of this thing are staggering. Its mainly aimed at hotels, retail stores, restaurants and public entertainment venues.
Imagine being in a restaurant and ordering another drink just by taping your finger on the table, or select another music to be played around you. One-touch beer pubs? Yes, a dream come true. They will start being sold in 2007 (yes, this year).

I highly recommend watching the video below to see what can be done with it. Then go watch another video here.
Edit: the price is currently $10.000 and Microsoft says everyone will have one in 3 to 5 years. Can’t wait!
