I think everyone experienced dropping the phone at one time or another. Or maybe you’re living in areas that see -30 Celsius degrees on a regular basis. The Sonim XP1 is designed to handle those particular situations rather well.

What it can do: survive a 1.65m drop on concrete, resist at -40 Celsius degrees, rain, dust. Because of the two powerful speakers and bigger buttons, it can also be used in industrial situations with big noise, or again, in winter conditions where you’re wearing gloves.

It’s not really a high tech toy, since it’s pretty basic, and expensive to top that, but you might be reluctant to bring your future new iPhone to the North Pole, and then, this one is ideal.
