For the sixth year in a row, Game Developer magazine released its study of salaries in the game industry.
Not that surprising, programmers earn the most with an average annual salary of $80,886 calculated across all experience levels. While artists can expect an average salary of $43,000 per year, game designers earn $44,574 if they’re at entry level (3 years or less of experience) and the average for all experience levels is $61,538. Game producers earn in average $77,131.
The lowest income in the game industry belongs to the testers, which earn an average of $37,861. If they’re at entry level then they can expect a much less satisfying $26,410 per year.
Another interesting bit is that around 1/3 of those interviewed, no matter from what category, were in the entry level category, with 3 years of less of experience.
