First e-mails were written on rocks and then thrown at neighbours. In time, people wrote them on paper and put them in envelopes. The postal service is very slow and that’s why the e-mail as we know it came around.

Just for fun you can send paper e-mail around your office. It will definitely confuse the person you send it to. They are considered to be a mix of new ideas and old school technology.
