Western Digital prepared a great surprise for the gamers and overclockers all around the world: the 300 GB VelociRaptor. After a few tests, many users said that it is 35% faster than the previous WD Raptors. It has 10,000RPM, 3Gbps SATA interface and 16 MB cache. Courtesy of IcePack Mounting Frame this drive benefits from an impressive 1.4 million hour MTBF. Besides keeping the drive extra cool, the IcePack bumps the 2.5” HDD to a 3.5 inch drive bay.

The 300GB VelociRaptor is now available only on Alienware’s ALX gaming desktop. Starting this May it will be available on the market everywhere for $300.
