Panasonic announced recently a new world premiere: a Blu-ray Disc player-specific single-chip signal processing LSI also known as MN2WS006.
This chip combines perfectly a front end to read the signal from the Blu-ray disc, and a back end that convert this into AV data. It uses multi-standard video decoding technology in order to enable video playback for BD, DVD, and CD media, and standards including MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and VC-1; audio playback compatible with lossless coding; and dual-screen simultaneous video playback including HD video, and a high-speed graphics engine technology which enables 2D graphic processing, and also 3D graphic processing or curved surface drawing on this brand new MN2WS006.
