Intel’s Skulltrail gaming platform is available on the market for some time and their most impressive pre-built system is the $6,799 Vigor Colossus desktop. This monster boasts with two $1,499 Core 2 Extreme QX9775 processors and dual CrossFireX ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics cards. According to Computer Shopper it was the fastest machine CS has ever tested in certain tests because it scored 21,902 in Cinebench 10, and a 6,695 mark in the Futuremark PCMark Vantage full-system test.

Even so, it is difficult to control its power. You must run several multithreaded apps to really flex all eight cores and you must get used with major fans, slow boot-up times and some serious heat but it’s a small price to pay.
