In 2007 Hitachi released the first 1TB HDD, the Deskstar 7K 1000 and now, they have a new surprise for you: the Deskstar 7K1000.B.This new monster is considered to be the “world’s most power-efficient 1TB drive” because it features a 32MB buffer, a 3-disk layout and consumes 43% less power when idling. It also offers built-in encryption that doesn’t interfere with the read/write speeds.

The Deskstar 7K1000B will hopefully be a strong adversary for the Samsung HD103UJ once it will hit the market on July. You can buy your own Hitachi HDD for $279.
