Gas prices have gone to the roof lately and that’s the main reason why companies are trying to reduce as much as possible the energy consumption. MIT is one of those companies. They have their own „plant” that handles 80% of the institute’s energy using a new thermoelectric prototype.
This device uses waste heat in order to produce more energy for the campus. For the future, the students are planning to install this device in the hot water pipes and increase that 80% percentage as much as possible.
If everything works, this will turn into an environmental-friendly device because it will trap wasted heat before it’s ejected into the atmosphere. This will turn the home heating as we know it upside down.
Unfortunately, this is only a prototype for now and we’ll have to wait until it goes to mass production.
