Sony is famous in the industry for their great looking PC VAIO UX UMPC and also for their conservationism to keep the motor running only using a single-core 1.2GHz Core 2 Solo.
Any upgrade actions involve a lot of hard work because the chip is soldered onto the board. To change the single-core with a Core 2 Duo you will need a lot of experience and also an infrared soldering station. It’s hard but not impossible.
Anh Nguyen from the Micro PC Talk forums managed to do all that without any side effects and now his unit uses a 1.2GHz U7600 Core 2 Duo. He made public the benchmarks and you can check them out in the picture below.
