A DS Lite, no matter what color or version is the perfect Christmas gift for any kid. Now, Nintendo decided to announce the hardware refresh for the 2-year old Nintendo DSi design.

This new DSi is 12% slimmer than the previous model (it has no GBA cartridge slot) and features two 3.25″ touch screens. The lack of GBA cartridge slot might be quite unpleasant for the Guitar Hero fans because the Guitar controller uses exactly this type of cartridge.

In addition to all that the DSi includes a front-facing VGA camera on the inside hinge, a 3 megapixel external camera, SD memory card slot and an integrated browser application.

The Nintendo DSi will be available in Japan starting the 1^st of November for $179 while the official dates for other regions remains to de announced.
