According to the Japanese distributor for Asus a few Eee Box PCs, launched last week, were shipped with a virus. This virus is called recycled.exe and is located on the D: drive. When opened it copies itself to the C: drive and any removable storage device disabling every anti-virus program along the way.
And that’s not all, it also disables processes, sends itself via email using the user’s address book, modifies Windows Security Policies and much more.
Asus made no official statements about this problem and this silence might cause them their credibility and buyers. It’s mandatory that they come public about this virus and find a way to fix the problem.
If you already received your Eee Box PC you should stay offline and disable all network connections until you find out more information and you make sure that you’re machine is out of harm’s way.
