Any movie fan knows that usually a DVD is seen on a widescreen display in 16:9 format and that includes those two back bars on top and bottom of the screen. Now, Philips unveiled the new Cinema 21:9 HDTV allowing anyone to watch movies in 21:9 format.
If a movie is shot in 2.35:1 aspect ratio the black bars appear on the screen but when you want to watch a movie with 1.85:1 aspect ratio you should know that you can very easily ditch the bars by converting the file to 16:9 format.
According to Philips the 21:9 aspect ratio can be adjusted for 16:0 allowing the Cinema 21:9 HDTV to be presented on the entire screen.
The new Cinema 21:9 will be available in stores starting this spring but for the time being the price remains to be determined. Stay tuned for more information!
