You may know that PS3 has some software that is based on the Ps2 emulations from 2007. So we were a bit surprised to find out that Siliconera has released a patent that is official since last week for the technology that allows them to decode and also recompile all the software that was written for Ps2 Emotion Engine. This engine is currently on the device’s Cell Processor. Some even say that they are doing this to include new features on the new and much waited slim Ps3 version. Others say they are doing it to offer support for the old Ps2 discs or even for the digital downloads. We don’t know anything for sure, we just know they have the patent and they mean to use it.
