Until today, a 160GB, 1.8-inch SATA disk at 5400RPM was only a dream but now, Toshiba turned it into the real thing. They have just announced the industry’s largest-capacity / fastest 160GB MK1617GSG disk for ultra-portables and netbook-class machines.

Other companies produce 160GB in an 8-mm form factor but without any doubt this is the first 1.8-inch SATA to reach 5400RPM.

If you have some doubts you must know that it will work perfectly with a classic iPod or with a MacBook Air or Envy 133.

This new ATI External Graphics Platform Technology from AMD is a new external video card for laptops that uses PCI Express 2.0 and connects to any other devices using a cable supporting 4 GB/s bandwidth in both directions.

For example, the AMD Turion X2 Ultra notebook will work perfectly with this new external video card.

ATI XGP works using multi GPU capabilities including the ATI CrossFire technology, PCIe 2.0 and USB 2.0 high speed transfers. It cools and powers independently.

According to Matt Skynner, vice president of Marketing, Graphics Products Group, AMD, this external video card allows you to work on your slim notebook while enjoying the full performance of a traditional gaming device.

At Computex 2008, ASUS revealed the 15.6-inch G50V and 17-inch G71V. the first one is featuring a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT graphics card, a WXGA “3D display,” Intel’s Centrino 2 platform, support for 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a pair of 320GB SATA drives and a solid keyboard built for gamers.

The G71V boasts the same GPU and platform along with two 500GB drives and support for DDR3 memory / CPU overclocking.

Despite their not-so-pretty look, these two gaming laptops the G50V and the G71V hide some interesting featured under the hood. For now, all we have to do is wait until they’re officially released on the market.

This new and improved iPhone 3G is an amazing device that will cost only half as its predecessor: $199. It has a real enable/disable 3G setting, an 802.11 b/g WiFi, A-GPS and geotagging photos.

It seems that the screen will be the same as the original iPhone, maybe a little big bigger and the camera will feature the classic 2 megapixels. Despite the first model, this new one has a curved back made from solid glossy plastic.

The power adapter is very small and includes a USB port on one side, and power prongs on the other. The dock and adapter will cost no more than $29. The headphone back is a classic 3.5 mm and the new dock is smaller and more sculpted to the new iPhone’s curves.

With these new specs, the original iPhone will become history.
